Position Title: Video Systems Developer (Contractor)

Duration: 6 months

Hours: 40 hours per week

Work Location: Remote with occasional visits to the office in Santa Cruz

Role Description:

  • Develop and optimize scalable, fast, and robust web-based solutions
  • Implement new features and optimize existing ones, driving maximum performance
  • Assessment and Documentation of processes, projects, and products
  • Consultation on software development progress and timelines
  • Perform unit testing
  • Collaborate across MAPS PBC with internal and external stakeholders

Minimum Requirements:

  • Development experience for 5+ years in a professional environment
  • Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, Node, Angular, and Unix-like environments
  • Intermediate skill in Flask, Django, HTML, CSS, and MySQL
  • Experience with patient health information, HIPAA, and GDPR compliance
  • Understands compliance and regulations around human subjects and patient data
  • Absent medical industry experience, experience in highly sensitive, and secure environments
  • Demonstrated success in building and deploying product, app and/or complete software package


  • Assessment and Documentation of systems
  • Developing external client-facing web-based solutions
  • Implementing new features and supporting the optimization of existing systems
  • Working closely with team developers, administrative staff, and other stakeholders
  • Incorporating feedback from other developers, database teams, and project managers
  • Software and hardware unit testing
  • Quality control and user acceptance testing
  • Adhere to MAPS PBC’s ethical standards
  • Adhere to clinical compliance requirements
  • Following Video Systems standard operating procedures and processes
  • Report daily to the Video Systems Manager, meet weekly with the whole video team


  • Being comfortable with ambiguity
  • Ability to communicate clearly both verbal and written
  • Experience organizing complex information, including producing reports
  • Experience coordination across a team environment
  • Experience identifying gaps in code and making optimization recommendations
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Able to manage time and ask for support when needed
  • Available during regular business hours
  • Quick learner, excited about learning to use systems in new contexts
